UM Digital Accessibility Solutions can recommend captioning vendors based on our current partnerships and input from other higher education institutions. Live Captioning Rates
We offer two levels of captioning services and will work with campus departments or units to determine the level of service required for your live event, whether virtual or in-person. There are several factors involved in the analysis of which level of captioning is required: audience size, known accommodation requests, type of event, etc.
Zoom Live Captioning
Zoom offers a live captioning office as part of its core service. We highly recommend enabling the captions as part of a base accessibility practice for virtual classes, meetings, and events.
In-Person Live Event Captioning
When a campus organization, department, or unit hosts a large event on campus that is open to the public and the needs of the audience are largely unknown, captioning using a human captioner is strongly recommended. The price for this service ranges from $95 to $120 per hour.
